Is it time to grow out your hair in to flowing locks? Are you dreaming of mermaid waves? If you're ready to gain some length check out our top tips.
Keep it healthy- If you are going to have long hair you want it to be healthy; dry damaged locks will never be long
Get regular trims- Don’t skip trims. When you see split ends, regular mini trims will keep hair healthy and prevent the breakage from traveling up the hair. Every 7 weeks is a perfect time frame to come in.
Myth: Cutting hair makes your hair grow faster. We aren’t sure how this got around but cutting your hair won’t make your hair grow faster. It will get rid of damaged ends before they get worse and strand breaks.
Conditioning treatments- In salon treatments and at home products are your best friend if you want flowing locks. Check out this post for why you need Redken’s Chemistry System. At home products are a must for keeping hair in check, ask your stylist to recommend the shampoo/conditioner that’s right for you. And as always Redken’s Antisnap is one of our favorite at home products for keeping hair in good shape (Don’t forget its 20% off for the month of March!).
Protein treatments- Our favorite is Redken’s CAT. No it’s not for your feline friend, CAT reconstructs, reconditions and adds immediate strength. This is the product for clients who serious about growing their hair and keeping it strong. You can take it home with you or we can do it for you in salon with any service.
Protect it from heat- If your curling iron is hot enough to cook a turkey, it might be too hot for your hair! Sometimes we need high heat to achieve a style but try turning the heat down and see if it works for you on a lower setting. Redken has 3 heat protecting sprays to be used with all hot tools. We love them because with heat memory your style might last you a day or two longer! Ask your stylist to help pick the right one for your hair.
Patience- Hairstylist’s are notoriously the most impatient people so we understand, it might feel like it is taking forever but keep up with the tips above and before you know it your long locks will be blowing in the wind!
